The summer has gone by so quickly! In a few days, I'm going to be moving to the Big Apple to start grad school. I have a lovely, little studio apartment in Manhattan, and I'm so excited to get settled in and start exploring.
Of course, I'm going to miss my family and friends like crazy, and it's odd to realize that this could be my last summer in Florida, where I've lived pretty much my whole life. I'll be back to visit, but will it ever feel the same after having lived in the big city? Will I be the same? These are just a couple of the questions I've been ruminating on as I prepare to take this plunge.
Even though I don't know what classes I'm taking yet, how I'm going to make friends, or how I'm going to survive a snowy winter, I'm confident in my ability to adapt to any environment, rise to any challenge, and take advantage of everything the city has to offer.
To wrap up, here are some random things that happened this summer:
-I graduated from UF, fulfilling my lifelong dream of being on the O'Dome's jumbotron. I took the opportunity to raise the roof.
-The anthropology department gave me $500 as a parting gift.
-I bought myself a Kindle.
-After my graduation ceremony, I got into a car accident. There wasn't a scratch on the passengers; the car was a different story.
-We got a used car to replace the wrecked one. Its alarm is spastic, going off at the sound of thunder and the lawn mower.
-My friends continue to be awesome.
And now, to pack.
